I admit it I'm a complete sucker when Jazz and Hip Hop fuse together. What we got here is a 35 minute long track which is seamlessly weaves together jazzy hip hop mixes from different DJs. Kick back and groove on this one, I already am. Hmm, I'm thinking of an alcoholic beverage.....

During my eight day drought, I was contemplating long and hard what album I would post that would fit right in. Thats a lie. I have been slacking on my blog frequency and I stumbled upon this album yesterday. It didn't take long for me to realize, however, that it's a good one. Wow, it flows nicely with the other two. Time to kick back and listen to more jams and see if I get lucky again.

This will be the first of many Madlib posts. I love this producer and pretty much everything he is credited. His collab with MF DOOM for Madvillain, or with J Dilla for Jaylib, which both are amazing. You can't forget Quasimoto either. That lovable little weed smoking, booty chasing, brick carrying, rapping alien. There are others that probably will end up here so... back to the matter at hand. The Beat Konducta Vol. 1-2: Movie Scenes. This album is meant to be a soundtrack for a movie that does not exist. Who else would come up with this shit? The tracks on this album are a bit reminiscent of Donuts which was released a month earlier. 35 sample-laden, instrumental tracks ranging from one to two minutes in length. All of which are centered around a certain theme. Very comparable to Donuts in overall quality. Great stoned minds think alike I guess.

No better way to kick off a hip-hop blog than to pay homage to "your favorite producer's favorite producer." The late, great J Dilla and what I believe to be his finest work, Donuts. This album was released on February 7, 2006, just three days before his death. 31 tracks. All around a minute or two in length. No lyrics here. Just samples, beats and melodies. This album has the power to change my mood in an instant. Listen and you'll understand.
